What the heck, Colorado - Did you hit your head?

Holy cow, if there is anyway to describe the last month of weather for the state of Colorado, bipolar would be the best way to do so.

We have had coastal torrential thunderstorm rains, at record breaking amounts for most of June, along with damaging wind and hail, and today a tornado in the suburbs. Now, this isn't 100% unusual for Colorado, but it's most definitely not the norm. By this time in June, we are usually sitting in the lovely 80-90 degree range with it being the start of a HOT and dry summer. Fire danger in Colorado during the summer is always at an all time high, but this year, its more mild/moderate. Unfortunately because the climate (nor soil) here is not accustomed to the amount of water that has been accumulating, flooding has become an issue.

On the flip side, Colorado hasn't been this green and lush in a long time. Its been years since we have been able to turn off our sprinkler system and let Mother Nature take it away. I don't have the best green thumb, and generally plant a planter full of beautiful flowers on my front porch, only to not water them and they shrivel up and die. Not this year, thanks to all of the rain, my pots and thriving and growing like crazy. It's been nice to have cooler days and nights, and not feel like we need to live inside during the peak hours to avoid the heat. The boys have been able to play baseball in the evenings without sweating through everything they are wearing, and overall I'd say its been quite enjoyable. I know not everyone feels the same way, but hey call me weird.

I imagine the day will come where its no longer a dabble at the 80-90 degree hot weather followed by days of thunderstorms , back and forth and back and forth, and we just switch into full on high desert summer, but for now I'm going to keep on enjoying the change.

So.... all it takes is a place to start, a blank page, or in this case a computer and a keyboard. I've never been much of a creative...
